Are you looking for a way to help the food pantry ministry? Cindy Elder has arranged with our Bristol Postmaster to have a table outside the post office on two days to promote the Food Pantry’s 5K race, which is coming right up on June 20th.
She’ll have the booth set up on Friday, May 1, from 9:30 to 1:30, and Saturday, May 9, from 9:30 to 1:30. Her goal is to hand out lots of registrations, sign people up, and raise awareness for the food pantry & thrift shop.
If you are available to help me man the booth on either of those days, please user the online foodpantry contract form and let us know you can help. Likewise, if you have any
artistic skills you’d like to put to use in creating a quick sign for the table, please let us know.
This should be a nice way to reach people who live in town and could very likely be available to participate in the race.

Verse:
Thus says the Lord: Do not let the wise boast in their wisdom, do not let the mighty boast in their might, do not let the wealthy boast in their wealth; but let those who boast boast in this, that they understand and know me, that I am the Lord; I act with steadfast love, justice, and righteousness in the earth, for in these things I delight, says the Lord.
- Jeremiah 9:23-24
Voice:
Let there be no pride or vanity in the work. The work is God’s work, the poor are God’s poor. Put yourself competely under the influence of Jesus, so that he may think his thoughts in your mind, do his work through your hands, for you will be all-powerful with him to strengthen you.

Take part in the FCC Photo Contest. Take a photo of our church buildings depicting them in the Spring season! (Hint – the trees are just budding out, etc.) and send them to our webmaster. The winner will be announced in Mid-May and be celebrated with their photo appearing on our main web page!
If you cannot send a digital photo, you may submit prints, but some quality may be lost in the process of making them internet-ready.

Verse of the Day:
But he was wounded for our transgressions, crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the punishment that made us whole, and by his bruises we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have all turned to our own way, and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all. He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he did not open his mouth; like a lamb that is led to the slaughter, and like a sheep that before its shearers is silent, so he did not open his mouth.
- Isaiah 53:5-7
Voice of the Day:
The Lord then saw unrighteousness and strife in the city, and stretched out his hands to an unbelieving and rebellious people. And yet, looking upon them, he said, “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.”

Verse of the Day:
Then [Jesus] took a cup, and after giving thanks he said, “Take this and divide it among yourselves; for I tell you that from now on I will not drink of the fruit of the vine until the kingdom of God comes.” Then he took a loaf of bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body, which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.”
- Luke 22:17-19
Voice of the Day:
God was executed by people painfully like us, in a society very similar to our own … by a corrupt church, a timid politician, and a fickle proletariat led by professional agitators.

Verse of the Day:
One night the Lord said to Paul in a vision, “Do not be afraid, but speak and do not be silent; for I am with you, and no one will lay a hand on you to harm you, for there are many in this city who are my people.”
- Acts 18:9-10
Voice of the Day:
What a tremendous relief it should be … to discover that we don’t need to prove ourselves to God.

Praise the Lord!
O give thanks to the Lord, for he is good;
for his steadfast love endures forever.
Who can utter the mighty doings of the Lord,
or declare all his praise?
Happy are those who observe justice,
who do righteousness at all times.
- Psalm 106:1-3

Verse of the Day:
Then they came to Capernaum; and when [Jesus] was in the house he asked them, “What were you arguing about on the way?” But they were silent, for on the way they had argued with one another who was the greatest. He sat down, called the twelve, and said to them, “Whoever wants to be first must be last of all and servant of all.”
- Mark 9:33-35

Verse of the Day:
Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility regard others as better than yourselves. Let each of you look not to your own interests, but to the interests of others. Let the same mind be in you that was in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not regard equality with God as something to be exploited, but emptied himself, taking the form of a slave, being born in human likeness.
- Philippians 2:3-7
Voice of the Day:
Charity is no substitute for justice withheld.
