A little reminder from the music world and the Playing for Change movement…  In times like this, with economic hardships and pandemic fears, it’s important to remember that nobody is alone:

H1N1 Virus

Posted in Announcements at 9:53 pm

Hello,

The H1N1 virus has now impacted us all. There are no words for the loss our community is feeling.

Our faith community grieves with all those who have lost loved ones to this virus, and especially here in Bristol.  May the abiding and healing presence of God be known to each and every one.

Watching out for our flock:

Following basic CDC guidelines, I will be suspending “physical contact” i.e. the passing of the Peace of Christ. I know that some of our most vulnerable members will not be with us in services for many weeks, or even months, until this pandemic is no longer a realistic threat.

There are adequate means of education available about the threat and we do not need to bring people together for a special class to pass this information along. Let common sense prevail. If you don’t feel well, or someone in your family is feeling ill, stay home until the matter has safely passed. See this link for information about H1N1: www.cdc.gov/h1n1flu/

I have asked our leadership for authorization to purchase hand sanitizing products for distribution throughout our physical plant. The important thing is to take care of yourselves, and those you love. Please do not hesitate to contact us for support and guidance, or to offer your suggestions for our appropriate response.

Be strong, be of good courage, and know the Lord, our God, is with us in all things.

With the Greatest of Hope,
Pastor Dan

The Power of Music

Posted in General at 8:43 am

I recently discovered Playing for Change, which is

a multimedia movement created to inspire, connect, and bring peace to the world through music. The idea for this project arose from a common belief that music has the power to break down boundaries and overcome distances between people. No matter whether people come from different geographic, political, economic, spiritual or ideological backgrounds, music has the universal power to transcend and unite us as one human race. And with this truth firmly fixed in our minds, we set out to share it with the world.

For those that have never heard of this movement, I thought I’d share with you some of their music.  For a first installment, enjoy the sound of One Love:

Perfect

Posted in Announcements, Worship at 10:05 pm

I am attempting to tell the “perfect” joke on Sunday. What is it?

Come and see!

(By the way, I will also be telling you the perfect story from our Scriptures)

And, if  you want to re-arrange your spiritual furniture, think about this quote, and let me know what you think:

“Sustainability is another word for justice, for what is just is sustainable and what is unjust is not.”
- Matthew Fox

Next week – I will use a familiar tune to share a broad Biblical truth.
