Confirmation Retreat

Our Fall Confirmation Retreat is coming up soon! This year the retreat is Friday, October 18 – Saturday, October 19. Remember, this retreat is mandatory as it is a central piece for the confirmation experience.

This year we will be traveling to Iron’s Homestead, our 100 wooded- acre UCC retreat center in Glocester, RI. It is a beautiful place, full of FCC confirmation tradition, and there will be much fun mixed in with your retreat program.

What do we do on this retreat? We have fun getting to know each other!  In addition to some centered time talking about our faith and who we are as God’s people, we will also make a big bonfire and eat s’mores. Pastor Dan will tell his famous ghost stories. There will be time for quiet thoughts and group games. There will be movie time and some shared meals. Some extra surprises await! The retreat leaders this year are Pastor Dan with Helen Sousa and Cheryl Rogers.

What to bring: Toiletries, towel, flashlight and sleeping bag, pillow cases. (They have pillows there.) Appropriate, comfortable clothing for the season and weather forecast. We will have some snacks for you, but you can bring your favorite to share. A camera if you wish. Cell phone use is not allowed at the retreat unless the matter is urgent.  Time to unplug!

May friends come? Only if they commit to the entire Confirmation Program at FCC and with prior approval from Pastor Dan.

Details: Meet Friday, October 18 at 4:30 at First Congregational Church. Carpool with retreat leaders to Iron’s. Arrive back at FCC at 12pm Saturday. Make sure you have filled out the consent form and bring it with you, please!!
