Please join us for a very special event.
The Bristol Warren Education Foundation, Bristol Warren Regional School District and Bristol Warren Education Association are pleased to welcome Sandy Hook Elementary School hero Kaitlin Roig-DeBellis to our community.
Join us on Friday, March 7 as Kaitlin shares her message of the power of compassion, kindness, empathy and consideration as delivered through a social curriculum.
This event is generously underwritten by the Hassenfeld Family Initiatives.
On the morning of Dec. 14, 2012, in Sandy Hook Elementary School, first-grade teacher Kaitlin Roig-DeBellis endured one of the worst tragedies the world has ever seen. The heroic teacher is credited with saving the lives of all 15 of her students by acting quickly upon hearing the sounds of gunfire and locking them all in a small bathroom until the ‘good guys’ came to let her know that it was over and they were now safe to come out.
As a response to the tragedy in Newtown, CT., Kaitlin created ‘Classes 4 Classes.’ Classes 4 Classes is a 501(c)(3) organization whose mission is to teach every child in our nation that our lives are not separate but rather completely connected, and that everyone has the power to take action and create positive change. It is designed to teach children the basic tenets that we are all connected and we all have something to give. The site provides students an opportunity to actively engage in social curriculum through projects that K-5 classes sponsor for other K-5 classes, to give a gift or experience that enriches their education.
The event is free and open to the public though space is limited, please RSVP — https://krd-bristol-warren.eventbrite.com
