Three Easter Services this Year

First Congregational Church is offering three very different and meaningful Easter Services this year.

Saturday, April 23- The Great Vigil of Easter begins at 8pm in the church courtyard. This ancient and beautiful service features our cantor, Andre Arsenault, Telling our Sacred Stories, reception of new members, renewal of baptismal vows and Holy Communion. A champagne and hors d’oeuvres potluck is after the service.

Sunday, April 24 – The Sunrise Service at Colt State Park Chapel. 6am rain or shine. Join us for the always treasured and festive service and bring a blanket for the concrete benches!

Sunday, April 24 – Main Easter Service in the sanctuary. 10:00 am – Full choir and brass quintet. All the wonderful energy and meaning you are used to at FCC!

Two Ash Wednesday Services

7:00 a.m. in the DeWolf Chapel. A brief service as you begin your day.

6:00 p.m. a service with our beautiful labyrinth to symbolize your Lenten journey.

Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper

Join us in the DeWolf room on March 8 at 6pm for our annual Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper. This is our yearly celebration the night before we begin Lent. It is always a wonderful time and there is all you can eat pancakes and all you can have FUN!!

Deacon’s Meeting

The Deacon’s regular monthly meeting is held the second Thursday of each month at the Guiteras House at 7pm, unless otherwise noted.  The Deacons are always interested in the suggestions or questions of the parishioners. Church Council Meeting

The monthly Church Council Meeting is held on the second Tuesday of each month at the Guiteras House, unless otherwise noted.  The beginning of each meeting is especially set aside for parishioner’s questions, suggestions, or input. Women’s Missionary Guild

The Women’s Missionary Guild meets Tuesday afternoons from 1pm-3pm at the Guiteras House.  They are always looking for new members. Bring your knitting, crocheting, crafts, piecework, sewing, or just come (they will find something for you to do).  Your presence is always welcome, but your talents are now especially needed as we get ready for the Christmas Bazaar.

They have a lot of fabric and notions that has been donated to them, so if you are looking for something special for your project, check with them – they may have what you are looking for.

The Art Affair on the Fence

The Art Affair on the Fence is here for the third year. Planned and hosted by Sandra and John Tolley, this is a great chance to see many local artists, and purchase marvelous art for your home or for a gift.  This event will be on August 21st from 10am-5pm.  Food will be offered for sale, and music will be provided by James Thomas and David Carney for your additional pleasure.

Anyone wishing to help, or participate as an artist, please call Sandra or John Tolley.

Volunteers are needed to work throughout the day, and also to donate great homemade goodies for the artists as they set up.  Again, please call the Tolleys.

Building and Grounds Evaluation Day, Sat. Oct. 23!

On Saturday October 23 the Facilities Committee is hosting a Buildings and Grounds Evaluation Day. We are inviting folk in the trades, and preservation experts to come to our facilities and offer their ideas, solutions, advice and appraisal for much needed work as we start gearing up for a capital campaign. At the end of the day we will have some food together and invite the Congregation to hear the reports. If you wish to help with the event, please contact Mark Johnson, chair of the Facilities Committee.
