Vacation Bible Camp

Kids in Kindergarten through 8th grade are invited to join us this summer for our ‘God and Me at Sea’ Vacation Bible Camp!

Join us June 25th to 29th from 9am to noon. Seventh and Eighth Grade students are welcome to be Camp Aides.

Tuition is $50 for the first child, $30 for additional children, with a family limit of $100.

The registration deadline is June 3, 2012. Pick up a Registration Form at church from our Director of Christian Education Helen Sousa.

We will work with local veterinarians and animal shelters to make it a great service. Local bluegrass band will be playing as well.

The Church Has Left The Building Day

This is a day when our community of faith goes out into Bristol to do good deeds instead of holding traditional worship. We will be washing windows for downtown businesses, picking up litter, paying for people’s laundry and the laundromat, and many other fun, meaningful intentional acts of kindness.

Men’s Group Speaker & Luncheon

WW II ACE TO SPEAK AT FIRST CONGREGATIONAL CHURCH

The FCC Men’s Group is sponsoring a luncheon with Capt. Arthur Lasker Saturday, April 21st at noon, at the First Congregational Church, 300 High Street.

Capt Lasker, U.S. Army Air Corps, was a P-38 Lightning pilot during the latter part of World War 2. There are only a handful of P-38s still flying and perhaps even fewer of the pilots who flew them in combat are still around to tell their stories of aerial combat.

The Lockheed P-38 was the primary long range fighter airplane of World War 2 until the deployment of the P-51 Mustang. Captain Lasker will talk about his experiences training in and flying the P-38 and relate some of his more memorable experiences both on the ground and in the air.

This not-to-be missed luncheon is guaranteed to be one that all those in attendance will long remember.

Following Captain Lasker’s talk, the group will have the opportunity to participate in a short work detail at his home to help spruce up his yard for spring.

Washington DC Service Trip

Washington D.C. Service Learning Trip

We are bringing 40 people (20 of them youth) to D.C. on Amtrak to participate in 3 days of intensive inner city service. The youth have been raising money for this trip all year. (Flamingo Fundraiser & Super Bowl Subs).

Homeless Awareness Sleep Out

Saturday-Sunday March 10-11, 2012 – new dates!!

The youth of our church are sponsoring a homeless awareness sleep out in front of the church.

They will spend all night outside on the church yard in makeshift shelters, a speaker will come in to discuss homelessness in RI and the East Bay, etc.

All are welcome to join us at 6:00 pm on Saturday to support our youth and listen to the speaker. Donations of clothing and blankets are welcome.

Letter from East Bay Food Pantry

Dear FCC Deacons and Members,

Thank you so very much for donating Christmas meal baskets for our clients in need.

Your generous donations provided all the fixings for a festive meal and a gift card for each family to purchase their choice of turkey, etc. Many church members also helped us assemble the meal baskets at the pantry – gladly sharing their time and good Christmas Cheer! In addition, the Giving Tree set up by Helen and the CE folks provided many gift for our clients’ children who would otherwise have gone without. The amount of support you are able to provide to our agency and many others, besides – is truly a wonderful thing! Your donations made a difference to our organization, and we appreciate your support.

It was wonderful to see the reaction of the clients when they came in on distribution day to pick up their basket, gift card and children’s gifts. Folks were very thankful to receive the makings of a nice meal to share with their loved ones and gifts to put under the tree!

The East Bay Food Pantry serves over 1,200 families representing more than 3,800 individuals in the East Bay area struggling to put food on their tables. EBFP is run by a small staff and many dedicated volunteers who strive to alleviate hunger in the East Bay. We rely on ongoing support from community members and organizations who value making a difference in the lives of others.
