Email Lists
Are you interested in staying better informed about events and happenings of the church? If so, we encourage you to sign up for one or more of our email lists. You can browse the complete list of public email lists or read on for a brief synopsis of some of our more popular public lists:
- announce: This email list is used to post general announcements about events and the life of the church. A synopsis of every post put on the website is also emailed to this list, so if you are the type of person who prefers receiving an email instead of remembering to visit the website, then this list is for you.
- WISE: This is a list of women who are interested in spiritual education.
How to Sign Up for a List
It’s easy to join one of our email lists! First, you need to navigate to the list webpage and look for a section titled Subscribing to <Name of List>, where <Name of List> is the name of the email list you want to join. In this section, you must enter a valid email address and pick a password. While not required, we encourage users to enter the name as well, it helps our list administrators know who has signed up to the lists. Below is a screenshot of an example user signing up for our announce email list:
Once you have entered your information, click on the Subscribe button. After submitted your request, you will see a message similar to:
All of our lists require that you confirm your interest to be subscribed to the list. This is a defense against spammers who might otherwise request your email address be added to random email lists. Shortly after seeing this message, you should receive an email asking you to confirm your subscription to the email list that looks similar to:
The quickest way to confirm your subscription is to click on the http://mail.fccbristol.org/… link in the email. Doing so will open your web browser to a page like:
Click on the Subscribe to list <Name of List> button and you’ve completed the steps required on your part to sign up to one of our lists. Some of our lists require moderator approval before your email list is added. If the list you are subscribing to does require approval, after clicking on the Subscribe to list… button, you will see something similar to:
A moderator of the list will receive an email and process the request. After a moderator confirms your request, you will receive a final email welcoming you to the list.
