Railroad House Band

Bristol’s Stone Church Coffee House at the First Congregational Church welcomes popular, Boston-based bluegrass band, Railroad House, on Saturday, May 7th.

Railroad House is a six piece band featuring lush 2, 3, and 4 part vocal harmony and playing a diverse blend of Americana music, from straight ahead Bluegrass to Western Swing, and beyond!

Railroad House songs have a sense of dynamics.  They save their beautiful harmonies for choruses or key emotional points in the songs.  They play a sprinkling of instrumental numbers in a set, but vocal-driven tunes are where this band shines, whether plucking a couple tunes from Steve Earle‘s “The Mountain“, serving up a standard like “Blue Ridge Mountain Home” or adapting a country tune like “Rough Around the Edges”. All in all, Railroad House will keep you entertained with great music and a fantastic stage presence.

Bristol’s Stone Coffee House is an affordable, family-oriented, handicap-accessible musical venue. Doors open at 6:45PM and the show starts at 7:30PM. Seating is limited and reservations are recommended. Light refreshments will be available for purchase. Tickets are $20.00 per person (students are half price; children 5 and under are free). Low Lily on March 26

Bristol’s Stone Church Coffee House at the First Congregational Church welcomes Low Lily on March 26th.

Start with excellently matched vocals, add some world-class playing, sprinkle with raised-off-grid Americana and you get Low Lily. Flynn’s deft flatpicking on guitar and mandolin and Lissa’s virtuosic fiddle-playing are grounded by Liz’s percussive rhythm guitar playing, the sounds of which combine joyously in this stunning ensemble.

With a vocal blend that has been dubbed “outstanding” and “meticulous,” Low Lily’s cohesive sound comes naturally for musicians whose lives have been entwined on the road and onstage for almost two decades. Setting down roots in Brattleboro, Vermont, the band has crafted a signature sound which they have shared with enthusiastic audiences throughout North America and the UK, garnering two #1 songs on International Folk Radio and two Independent Music Award wins.

See Don White at the Coffee House on Feb 26th

Bristol’s Stone Church Coffee House at the First Congregational Church welcomes Don White on February 26th.

There is no one-word description for what Don White does. He’s an award-winning singer/songwriter, a comedian, an author, and a storyteller. He’s been bringing audiences to laughter and tears for thirty years, released ten CDs, three live DVDs, and a book, Memoirs of a C Student. His latest album is Live at the Guthrie Center, available now. In 2011, he won the Jerry Christen Memorial Award, given out by the Boston Area Coffeehouse Association, for his work with the community and that same year was given a key to the city in his hometown of Lynn, Massachusetts.

Don’s approach to music is a unique blend. If he just played folk music, it would be a handy label. But he has invented his own genre with a mix of humor and powerful songwriting. White’s arc as a writer and performer has taken him from his industrial hometown of Lynn, Massachusetts, through Boston’s comedy clubs and coffeehouses, and onto stages around the country. At every point, White has been the ultimate observer, infusing his work with his experiences as a husband, a father, a seeker, and a joker.

The Clements Brothers Come to Coffee House on Nov 13th

Bristol’s Stone Church Coffee House at the First Congregational Church welcomes The Clements Brothers on November 13th.

Identical twins Charles and George Clements are from the Boston area. They’ve been playing and writing music together for as long as they can remember and ‘The Clements Brothers’ marks their first duo project together.

With roots, rock, bluegrass, jazz, and classical influences, George (on guitar) and Charles (on bass) aim to capture their singer-songwriter sensibilities in a unique blended voice, at once enthralling and intimate, groovy and serene.  The core of the Clements Brothers is the fusion of their unique musical journeys into a music all its own, filled with vocal harmonies, instrumental virtuosity, and a genuine love of song.

For nearly 10 years, the brothers performed with the modern acoustic group, The Lonely Heartstring Band, of which they were the founding members. They went solo after the band disbanded in 2019. The brothers collaborated on their album, “Into the Day.”

Dirty Cello Comes to Coffee House on Oct 23

Bristol’s Stone Church Coffee House welcomes Dirty Cello to our stage on October 23rd. From China to Italy, Dirty Cello brings the world a high energy and unique spin on blues and bluegrass. Led by vivacious cross-over cellist, Rebecca Roudman, Dirty Cello is cello like you’ve never heard before. From down home blues with a wailing cello to virtuosic stompin’ bluegrass, Dirty Cello is a band that gets your heart thumping and your toes tapping!

Rebecca Roudman is a classical string player by day, and rocks out with Dirty Cello by night and has used her improvisation skills to rock out with the likes of Carlos Santana, Isaac Hayes and hip hop bands like Deltron 3030. Rebecca will be joined on stage by guitarist, Jason Eckl; Alex Farrell on bass; and Jeff Wheeler on drums.

“When lead guitar is replaced by the sound of hot licks on a cello, blues, rock and bluegrass rise to a new dimension. Dirty Cello — from San Francisco, CA — makes its style of string music to inspire audiences to swing, sway and dance.” Nick Diamantides, Ashland Daily Tidings.

“Dirty Cello’s music is all over the map: funky, carnival, romantic, sexy, tangled, electric, fiercely rhythmic, and textured, and only occasionally classical.” Lou Fancher, Oakland Magazine.

“The band plays every style imaginable, and does some fantastic covers. (Their rendition of “Purple Haze” is incredible.) But what is most spectacular about them is hearing the depth of soul in Roudman’s playing—it goes beyond what most people would expect from the instrument. She plays it with so much heart, you’ll wonder why more bands don’t have a cellist.” Good Times Santa Cruz.
